William Langford, Age 18
Private, 285356, 15th Battalion, Welsh Regiment.
William was the son of William (a moulder) & Mary Ann of 56 Woodhouse Lane, Horsehay and in 1901 was aged 2.
He had enlisted in the Herefordshire Regiment (4919), but at some point, had been transferred to the Welsh regiment. It was whilst serving with his new regiment that he was killed in action on the 22nd August 1917 during the Third Battle of Ypres (Passchendaele). William’s body was never recovered and his name is recorded on the Tyne Cot Memorial Panels 93 -94.
